This stamp, issued by the Cameroon government in 1986, is one of a set celebrating traditional masked dances. This stamp depicts a kwem dancer of the Widkum people who inhabit the Momo Department in northwest Cameroon. The kwem dance is a war dance, in which the dancer wields a short sword or club and frightening face with a totemic animal or ancestor on his head. On his ankles are rattles.
